This morning our lucky guests saw Sperm whales. The animals kept the distance but everybody on board got a good idea of how big they are.
During our afternoon trip we got surprised by the weather which was supposed to come tomorrow. Little rain showers everywhere. The rain was expected for Friday… so today was already tomorrow. Patience, the finest quality of a whale watcher, was needed. But our spotter, the best ever, found Pilot whales. By the way Sperm whales and Pilot whales have something in common:
- Their social structure is a matriarchy
- Gestation of 16 month
- Deep divers
- Preferred prey: squid
