Due to the movements of the Canary Current, our position in the open Atlantic Ocean, and fantastic wildlife protection schemes, Madeira is one of the best places in the world to see marine wildlife. Days like today, where we saw several different species of dolphins across all tours, are not uncommon. However, given that we see these animals almost every day, guests often ask if we ever get bored of seeing them. In short, no. The beauty of our work is the variety of tours. Not only might we see different species on every tour, but we will also see them with different people. So whilst for us guides, it may be our 20th, 100th, or even 1000th time seeing Spotted Dolphins (Stenella frontalis), hearing the gasps of people who are seeing them for the first time, answering the question and curiosity that they stoke, and simply knowing that these ardent surviros continue to exist out here, we are still as amazed and pleased to see them as day one.
