Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis), a wonderful dolphin species that we are delighted to see here every time we meet them, were very much present today. We are really lucky this year, because although they are usually only seen here from time to time, there have been numerous sightings of these cute dolphins this summer. They were resting and drifting together on the surface of the sea, but later they were also active. While we listened to them with the hydrophone, they checked out our boat with their clicks. Communication between the group members could also be heard. I wonder what they were saying to each other? Some of the animals were going after a dolphinfish. What was a game for the dolphins was certainly experienced differently by the dolphinfish. And if I have to give it away here, I like to call these cute dolphins sweatheart dolphins.
