The wind played tricks on us today. Despite our best efforts, our Riveira Brava did not record any sightings. Our speedboat Stenella was only lucky in the morning and evening and was able to observe short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). In the evening, amidst the waves, the pilot whales seemed extremely comfortable. Otherwise we usually experience them very relaxed and rather slow at a speed of around 6 km/h. But as I have often observed, they are much more active with a little more wave. That’s how it was today too. One animal even jumped, which is not common for pilot whales. The journey back through the waves and against the wind was more like a roller coaster experience. So we brought happy and salty guests back to land.

We were there in the evening of the 11/09, sitting/standing at the front of the speedboat during the roller coaster experience.
Thank you so much for the photos. It allowed us to fully live the moment at the time.
These are memories for life.
