… or the incredible journey of a sea turtle was the motto of this day. Through we couldn`t free an Orca from miserable condition of captivity, but we were able to release a sea turtle back to the ocean. Last August we found a Loggerhead turtle which was badly injured. We handed this animal to Thomas Dellinger, an expert for sea turtles in Funchal. For many month VetMadeira took care of „our“ sea turtle „Willy/Wilhelmina“. An absolutely great commitment! And today was the big day! Willy/Wilhelmina went in the wake of expert, caregiver and press on board of Ribeira Brava. What a touching moment seeing her diving into the deep blue, into her home. Both boats were able to observe this special moment. Now Willy/Wilhelmine is back on her journey. In fact now she needs to find her food by herself, but she sets up her own course again. Juchhu and good luck! Furthermore we had beautiful sightings with Common dolphins and Bottlenose dolphins. Stenella had additional Striped dolphins.
How was the afternoon? Amazing! We had a dolphin trio consisting of Bottlenose dolphins, Striped dolphins and a veeeery special type of dolphin, the so called Fatima`s favorite dolphins, alias Atlantic Spotted dolphins. Eventually they are back! Hope very much everybody is as happy I am right now!
