Today was under the sign of the Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). On every boat and every tour, there was the small dolphin species to see. On our midday tour, a subgroup was busy mating. If these little love affairs are successful, in nine months there will be baby dolphins, hopefully here. They are born head first, by the way. To ensure that the little calf slides smoothly through the birth canal, the caudal fin is still curled up, and the dorsal fin is close to the body.
We were also allowed to observe beautiful jumps towards us. When the nimble Spotted dolphins come flying towards us, they use the fact that the air resistance is lower than the water resistance.
