Today Ribeira Brava was accompanied by a beasty good Guide, which brought us almost all the way to our sighting. A single Cory’s Shearwater made it a task to escort us for a long time. He probably thought we were the mother ship. In any case a beastly good guide!
We observed three Sperm whales, two adults and a youngster. A few times mother and calf spyhoped at the same time. For a spyhop the animal is vertical and puts its head out of the water to check the area. A nice picture! And how a guest expressed so perfectly:” Magical – breathtaking – I can’t believe I just saw a whale.” During our trip we also saw Flying fishes (in mini format) and a Loogerhead turtle.
