Our team did not have an easy time out last sea today and neither did our guests. We had strong east wind and quite a swell in front of Calheta but our boats ventured out on their usual search for cetaceans nonetheless.
While our speedboat drove far offshore, eventually having a surprise encounter with a Hammerhead shark (Sphyrna zygaena), our crew aboard the Ribeira Brava had little more to show our guests than the beautiful coastline of Madeira…but that is quite a view indeed! Braving the difficult swell, our guests admired and photographed our beautiful little island as we scanned the waters in front of the picturesque villages of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar before heading back to Calheta. We hoped to have a little surprise encounter on our way back, but that wasn’t the Atlantic Ocean’s plan for our team today. We hope nonetheless that our guests appreciated the effort and enjoyed the adventure!
