Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), as we saw them with both boats this morning, are certainly amongst the most well-known dolphin species. For many, the movie “Flipper” is certainly a reminder of children’s days. But who knew at the time, when the pleasure industry began to boom with marine mammals, what harm was done to these animals. Since then, something has happened, because more and more people in Europe, USA, etc. boycott such marine parks of anguish. However, the marketing of animal recreational fun now seems to be gaining in popularity in Asian countries and Russia.
The cruel trade of applause for forced tricks, which condemned animals to suffer. Anyone who knows me knows that my heart opens wide to people who are committed to animals. Animal rights activists are idols, they are heroes!
Ric O’Barry, who once trained Bottlenose dolphins for the movie Flipper, had an incredible turn around in thought. Now he is fighting for the rights of these animals to spend a life in freedom and is against the cruel bloody action in the bay of Taiji / Japan. Such a mission deserves admiration!
My definition of hero is reflected in the following quote by Mahatma Gandhi: “The more helpless a living being, the greater his right to human protection from human cruelty.” Ric O’ Barry has actions to that effect.
