This afternoon we started with “small” … a small school of Common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) it was very relaxed and chilled. The animals were in resting mode and some were busy with the important socializing.
Afterwards we observed for a moment the hunting behavior of tunas. Since these do not have to come to the surface, there was only active splashes to see. As my colleague reported, there was also hunting tunas in the morning.
And then the spectacle started! Three hundred and more Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) roamed the ocean with incredible energy. The water seemed to boil. Although I also saw very slender animals that looked like our coastal, resident animals, the majority of the group consisted of the much stronger, bulkier, high-sea form. A real Bottlenose spectacle! Nice, it was very nice!!! Can a weekend start better? Under no circumstance!
