During our tours with the RIBEIRA BRAVA with large groups of Bottlenose dolphins during both trips, we also saw some Tuna fishing vessels setting their gear along the coast, called long liners. This consist of several miles of nylon lines with regular intervals of live baited hooks, drifting offshore. Not being the ideal fishing method, in terms of sustainability, it is by far a much better fishing method then dragging or drifting nets, that have a profund impact on the ecosystems, causing a drastic change on the life cycle in the ocean true by-catch.
