Today we only had an afternoon tour with the Stenella. Shortfined Pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) were seen throughout the tour. They were widely distributed, and we visited the different groups. Sometimes it was just Bottlenose dolphins, sometimes just Pilot whales, but we also met both together. There are Short-finned and Long-finned pilot whales. They can be found in temperate (Short-finned) as well as cold (Long-finned) waters. In the Southern Hemisphere they are found in all oceans, but in the Northern Hemisphere they can only be observed in the Atlantic. Their distribution area extends from the thirtieth degree of latitude north, such as south latitude.
